New GreeNest Publication: From Lab to Living Lab

The transition towards Zero-Emission Buildings (ZEBs) calls for building solutions that combine lower environmental impact, improved energy performance and more efficient use of resources. A new article published in European Dissemination, titled From Lab to Living Lab: GreeNest’s Standardised Packages and the Athens Sandbox, explores how GreeNest is addressing these challenges through the development and testing of innovative building technologies.

Authored by Maria Founti from the National Technical University of Athens and Ivana Kolackova from FENIX TNT, the article explores GreeNest’s integrated approach to sustainable construction, bringing together circular and bio-based materials, innovative building envelopes, renewable energy technologies and digital tools through its Standardised Packages (SPs).

Through these solutions, GreeNest aims to reduce embodied emissions by 50% and life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions by 60%, while improving construction productivity by more than 30%.

The publication also highlights the Athens Sandbox at the National Technical University of Athens campus, where different configurations of EcoTechWall, together with SmartWall and the NestControl monitoring system, are being tested under real outdoor conditions. The data collected will help evaluate their performance and support the further development and replication of GreeNest technologies
