GreeNest Featured on BUILD UP
The transition to Zero-Emission Buildings (ZEBs) is a central pillar of Europe’s climate strategy. The recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) sets ambitious targets to reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency, and accelerate the decarbonisation of the building sector.
A new technical article published in BUILD UP explores how the GreeNest project helps turn these policy ambitions into practical solutions. Authored by Maria Founti from the National Technical University of Athens and Ivana Kolackova from FENIX TNT, the article presents the project’s integrated approach to sustainable building design.
Rather than focusing on single technologies, GreeNest promotes a systemic approach combining circular and bio-based materials, renewable energy systems, and digital tools to optimise building performance and reduce lifecycle emissions.
The article also highlights the role of demonstration buildings, where innovative solutions are tested and monitored under real-life conditions, providing valuable insights into how Zero-Emission Buildings can be implemented across Europe.
