GreeNest showcased building innovations at Swissbau 2026
On 20 January 2026, the GreeNest project was presented at Swissbau 2026 in Basel, Switzerland. The project was featured at a stand dedicated to earthen construction in Switzerland, organised by our partners the Institute for Sustainability and Energy in Construction (INEB) of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), together with IG Lehm and IbW Institut für Bau und Wirtschaft. The stand highlighted both current Swiss construction projects and forward-looking research initiatives focusing on sustainable and circular building materials.
During the event, the GreeNest team presented the development of an earth screed as a circular flooring system. Within the project, Andrea Klinge and Julian Mönig are developing a prefabricated, glueless, adaptable ceiling system based on waste wood and reusable earth screed for multi-storey buildings. The concept will be demonstrated in one of the GreeNest demonstrations, a three-storey case building at the Technical University of Berlin campus, where installation, dismantling, and reuse potential will be evaluated.
In addition to presentations and discussions, visitors could also participate in hands-on workshops on earthen construction techniques, gaining practical insight into sustainable building materials.
Held from 20–23 January 2026, Swissbau is one of the most important construction and real estate events in Switzerland, bringing together architects, engineers, researchers, and industry leaders to exchange knowledge and showcase innovations supporting the transition to more sustainable and circular buildings.
