Piliko Presents at Scientific Conference in Cyprus

On 25 May 2024, our project partner Piliko participated in the Scientific Conference: Thermal Properties of Adobe Constructions, held at the University of Cyprus in Nicosia. The event was co-organised by the University of Cyprus and ICOMOS, and gathered international experts in earthen architecture and sustainable building practices.

Zeta Chrysafaki, Architectural Engineer and founding member of Piliko, delivered a presentation titled Contemporary Applications of Raw Earth Construction Techniques in Crete.” Her talk highlighted modern uses of traditional earth-based construction methods and their relevance to sustainable, low-energy architecture. As part of her presentation, she also introduced the GreeNest project, highlighting its key objectives.

The event featured contributions from leading researchers and professionals in the field, exploring the thermal performance, durability, and innovation potential of adobe and raw earth materials in both traditional and contemporary contexts.
