4th Progress and General Assembly Meeting in Lesvos

On 25–26 June 2026, GreeNest partners met in Petra, Greece, for the project’s M30 Progress and General Assembly Meeting, hosted by the Municipality of West Lesvos at the Petra Cultural Centre. Set in a reconstructed former olive press, the meeting provided a meaningful setting for discussions on progress at the halfway point, preparing the work ahead, and the practical implementation of GreeNest solutions across the demonstration sites. Partners also had the opportunity to visit one of the project’s demonstrations in Stypsi.

Day 1

The first day began with a warm welcome from the host, Aphrodite Vatis, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of West Lesvos. Prof. Maria Founti from NTUA, the project coordinator, introduced the overall project progress, presenting achievements from M19–M30 and the main plans for M31–M48. The meeting was also joined by the Project Officer, Veronika Schroepfer, who shared her comments and highlighted GreeNest's strong potential for practical implementation.

The rest of the day was dedicated to Work Package updates. Partners presented progress across the GreeNest ecosystem and digital technologies, demonstration and validation activities, exploitation, environmental assessment, dissemination, communication, IPR management, and project coordination.

The first day concluded with a visit to the demonstration in Stypsi. The building, part of the former Stypsi olive mill complex, is being restored and will serve as a multi-purpose Youth Centre. The demo site was presented by Maria Sachini, an Architect and Civil Engineer from Stypsi:

"The building features a reinforced concrete structural frame, while the masonry has been constructed exclusively using recycled local stone, timber, and sheep wool insulation. The single-pitched timber roof follows the traditional local construction technique in every detail. Once completed, the building will incorporate advanced heating and cooling systems, photovoltaic panels, and intelligent automation systems that coordinate all building functions to ensure maximum comfort for users. The architectural design integrates local craftsmanship and natural materials that reflect the unique identity of the region while embracing a contemporary, environmentally responsible approach."

The day ended with a common dinner at a traditional tavern in Stypsi, providing an opportunity for informal discussions and strengthening collaboration among partners.

Day 2

The second day focused on technical discussions. Partners talked about the characteristics and manufacturing of photovoltaic panels for each demo, followed by a technical workshop on the Digital Product Passport. Further discussions focused on the Cost-Benefit Analysis questionnaire for end users and the first Life Cycle Assessment results. Partners also addressed the next steps for reporting and preparation for the upcoming review meeting.

After the meeting, the partners went on an excursion to the Museum of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos. The visit offered an opportunity to explore one of the island’s most significant natural heritage sites, a rare monument formed around 20 million years ago by volcanic activity and recognised as part of the UNESCO Global Geopark of Lesvos.

The Petra meeting marked an important milestone for the GreeNest consortium, combining project progress, technical exchange, demonstration experience, and strategic planning for the next phase. We sincerely thank the Municipality of West Lesvos for hosting the meeting and for its warm hospitality.
