GreeNest project

GreeNest pioneers a transformative approach to sustainable and low-carbon building practices by integrating CO₂-neutral building materials, including reused, recycled, and locally sourced biogenic elements, with renewable energy sources. This holistic ecosystem, encompassing human response and natural/green systems, showcases resource-efficient construction that requires fewer materials and embraces energy-efficient circular practices.

The project's ambitious goals include:

  • achieving 100% carbon-free construction,

  • reducing embodied emissions by 50% with respect to NZEB standards, ZEB or even positive energy standards,

  • incorporating renewable energy sources to meet stringent energy consumption targets, reducing GHG emissions by 60% and enhancing construction productivity by over 30%.

GreeNest offers a comprehensive range of innovative solutions for new buildings, addressing every stage of a building's life cycle, from design and construction to end-of-life disposal. With demonstrations in four real and two virtual construction projects across five countries, GreeNest leverages local and regional value chains, paving the way for scalable replication throughout Europe.
